NMRTC Camp Pendleton JEA hosts AFBP Blood Drive

CAMP PENDLETON , CALIFORNIA — Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Pendleton’s Junior Enlisted Association hosted the Armed Forces Blood Program – Camp Pendleton for a blood drive on Nov. 18, 2024, in the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton galley meeting room.

Arion McCartney, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Chief Information Officer, discuss amateur radio procedures during the San Diego County 2024 Pediatric Surge Full Scale Exercise on Oct. 24, 2024, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The hospital’s goals were to practice communication support during an event with degraded communication assets and to stress interoperability and collaboration with other agencies across the county. “We successfully achieved our objectives during this exercise by seamlessly integrating ARES volunteers into our emergency response framework, enabling efficient backup communication, enhancing resource coordination, and providing real-time situational awareness,” said McCartney. “Our successful collaboration with ARES volunteers and partner agencies demonstrated our ability to effectively manage a large-scale disaster scenario, ensuring that critical information and resources were available to support healthcare facilities and protect our community.”

NHCP participates in County Pediatric Surge Exercise

CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA — Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton participated in a county-wide medical emergency exercise on Oct. 24, 2024. An exercise cell from the hospital set up on the roof of the hospital parking garage to participate in the 2024 Pediatric Surge Full Scale Exercise, co-sponsored by the San Diego Healthcare Disaster Coalition and the County of San Diego Public Health Preparedness and Response.

Navy Capt. Jenny Burkett, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Director, Lt. Gen. Michael Cederholm, commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF), and Brig. Gen. Nick Brown, commanding general of Marine Corps Installations West / Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, cut the ceremonial ribbon officially opening the new and improved 21 Area Branch Health Clinic on Sept. 19, 2024. The 21 ABHC provides medical and dental care to the approximately 5,000 active-duty service members serving aboard Camp Del Mar.

NHCP opens new medical and dental clinic in Camp Del Mar

CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA — Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton officially opened the new and improved 21 Area Branch Health Clinic aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton’s Camp Del Mar on Sept. 19, 2024.

Ensign Grace Joan Reveles is administered the oath of office by Lt. Cmdr. Nancy Helfrich during Reveles’ commissioning ceremony held Sept. 6, 2024, on the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Medal of Honor Promenade. Having obtained both her associate degree and bachelor’s degree in nursing while serving on active duty as a corpsman, Reveles was commissioned into the Navy Nurse Corps via the Direct Accession Program.

Camp Pendleton Corpsman commissioned into Navy Nurse Corps

CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA — A corpsman with Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton has been commissioned into the Navy Nurse Corps.

EMF 150 – Alpha changes command aboard MCB Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA — On Friday, June 21, 2024, Expeditionary Medical Facility 150 - Alpha conducted a change of command ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

Students at Field Medical Training Battalion – West conduct physical training utilizing a new PT playbook designed by Lt. Cmdr. Yui Wong and Navy Lt. Erin Wippermann, physical therapists from Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. As a result of the new program, the students have a 100% pass rate of all physical training requirements combined with nearly a 90% decrease in training related musculoskeletal injuries. FMTB-West is the Navy Enlisted Classification code – producing school for the Navy and Marine Corps on the west coast and provides ready and trained Field Medical Service Technicians to the Marine Corps, Navy Expeditionary Forces, Naval Construction Battalions, and throughout the Navy fleet. NHCP PT Department assists FMTB-West in improving performance while decreasing injuries

CAMP PENDLETON , CALIFORNIA — Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton’s physical therapy department provided subject matter expert assistance to the staff of Field Medical Training Battalion – West to revamp the physical training program for the school with a goal of decreasing injuries and increasing the percentage of students passing the physical training events.

Nurses and corpsmen from Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton participate in the annual skills-a-thon event held on the hospital’s multi-service ward during the week of May 20, 2024. The 12-station event included topics such as blood transfusion, restraints, crash cart, de-escalation, blood cultures, and airway management and was mandatory training for all active duty and civilian nurses as well as all active-duty corpsmen working on the inpatient wards or the emergency department. When the final session ended, a total of 182 participants had completed the training.

CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A long-time civilian employee of Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton received the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award during the Marine Corps Installations West / Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton 25th Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony held at the Pacific Views Event Center on April 18, 2024.
